Magic World: the complete guide (formerly Marina d'Or)
Everything you need to know about the resort where our apartment is located, next to Oropesa del Mar, Castellón.
What is Magic World, and why was it formerly called Marina d'Or?
Magic World is the current name of this resort located next to Oropesa del Mar, in the province of Castellón (Valencian Community), known for years as Marina d'Or Ciudad de Vacaciones. You'll often see the former name spelled in different ways — Marina d'Or, MarinadOr, Marina dOr — and many visitors still search for it that way, even though the brand has changed to Magic World.
From Marina d'Or to Magic World: a new chapter
The name change came in January 2024, when the resort's new owners — Grupo Fuertes and the hotel chain Magic Costa Blanca (now Magic Hotel Group) — unveiled the Magic World brand at the Madrid International Tourism Trade Fair (FITUR), as part of a renovation plan that initially topped €40 million.
As part of that renovation, three of the resort's former hotels were transformed into themed accommodations: Hotel Magic Sports (formerly Gran Duque), sports-themed with its own water park; Hotel Magic Games (formerly Marina d'Or Playa), inspired by video games and board games; and Hotel Magic Fantasy (formerly Hotel Marina d'Or 3*), themed around fairy tales and magic, with the resort's own mascots such as the unicorn Colorete and the wizard Magbit. The former five-star spa hotel has been renovated as the Pontiana Thalasso Hotel.
Where exactly is it, and how do you get there?
The resort sits within the municipality of Oropesa del Mar. The distance from the town centre of Oropesa to Magic World is about 3 km by car and roughly 2 km on foot.
Magic World beach
Magic World's coastline is made up of Morro de Gos and Les Amplàries beaches, equipped in summer season with lifeguard posts, access points and services. Our apartment is right on the beachfront, next to Les Amplàries beach.

Leisure and parks
Magic World brings together several parks and leisure spaces designed especially for families: a children's play area, a water park, themed gardens and adventure zones, plus a seawater spa, one of the largest in Europe. The resort's gardens cover more than 100,000 m² and combine varied vegetation with rest areas and sports zones.

Layout of the resort
Magic World is organised into several easily recognisable zones. Next to the beach is the Beach Club, with direct access to beachfront loungers and umbrellas. Around it are the resort's various water parks: Sports Water Park, Splash Adventure and Polinesia, plus the Magic Dinoland theme park and the children's space Play Zone Park (with its own pet area, Casa de las Mascotas). The Jardín Encantado (Enchanted Garden) is another of the resort's best-known landscaped spaces.
As for accommodation, Magic World has several hotels of its own (Magic Sports, Magic Inn, Magic Games, Magic Fantasy, among others) as well as apartment zones, like ours, spread around these facilities. A small tourist train, the Magic Express, also runs through the resort (from 9:00 a.m. to midnight, with stops along the beach promenade), though access is reserved for guests staying at the resort's hotels with the corresponding wristband — it is not included if you're staying in an apartment like ours.
Parks and attractions
